Today I received an appeal from Marianne Markowitz, CFO of Obama for President, for funds to match the “blitz” of McCain last-days expenditures. As one who habitually tilts against windmills, I sent her the following reply. If by the slightest chance I receive a reply I shall post it here.
I know it’s totally unrealistic to reply to this e-mail as you’ll NEVER read it but…
I find it distasteful bordering on the obscene that you continue to make these appeals for more funds lest you not be “out-spent” by the GOP campaign when you’ve already raised $600 million from god-know-where (you won’t disclose to public, and what is disclosed on G-S type contributions isn’t comforting) and then spend it prolifigately on endless 30 second commercials and a half-hour infomercial and an unaccountable number of paid “volunteers” and now “plead poverty” like a wastrel child who spent all his allowance on trifles and now has nothing with which to buy “really important stuff.”
To be frank, Ms. Markowitz, I would not want to be the “Chief Financial Officer” of the Obama for President campaign when and if an auditing is ever done of the receipts and expenditures of the campaign. The FEC should find it very interesting.
