Tomorrow a 47-mile stretch of the turnpike from Florida City to Miramar becomes cash-free, as toll collection is automated by Sun Passes and validated license plates, leaving some 270 toll-takers without jobs. This is but the first step in a multi-year project for total automation. No more of those romantic stories of toll-takers smitten by charms of the handsome guy in the north-bound yellow 68 Cadillac.
