CHOICE OF MARC GROSSMAN TO REPLACE RICHARD HOLBROOKE HIGHLIGHTS AN UPCOMING HAPPY NEO-CON EASTER FOR U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT.

(Sibel Edmonds’ “Boiling Frogs”)

Hillary Clinton has chosen Grossman as special envoy to Afghanistan. Like the recent appointment of Frank Wisner as a special envoy to Egypt, Grossman has a long and continuing history of personal business connections with a country to which he is being posted. In Grossman’s case, he is actively involved with the Cohen Group, which “advises” clients on foreign business matters. Only the UK Independent “broke” the earlier story of Wisner’s conflict of interest, the U.S. press as usual failed to tell such inconvenient truths about a government appointment. In reviewing this situation Sibel Edmonds notes that the Independent found it “odd” that no U.S. journalist noted this conflict of interest, which Edmonds finds “funny” because this is general practice of U.S. “journalists.”

WORKERS OF WISCONSIN AND REST OF THE U.S.: YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR RIGHT TO ORGANIZE AND COLLECTIVELY BARGAIN.

(Global Research)

Dan La Botz, Socialist Party candidate for U.S. Senate from Wisconsin in 2010, notes that the recent mass demonstrations in his state are the harbingers of a “new” labor movement in the country to meet the new resolution of both corporate-dominated political parties to destroy what is left of a moribund unionization of workers: the public service unions which represent 36% of workers in public employment. The successes of mass rallies in Middle Eastern countries are not lost on these demonstrators, and La Botz believes their own successes in securing the right to organize will lead to resumption of the traditional fight for better wages and working conditions.

PROTESTS AGAINST SCOTT BUDGET BEING PLANNED THROUGHOUT FLORIDA.

(Florida Capital News)

Unlike Wisconsin’s mass rally in the state Capitol, Florida organizers are recognizing the geographic remoteness of Tallahassee and are planning instead demonstrations in such metropolitan centers throughout the state as Tampa and Orlando. These are scheduled to happen two weeks from today, on March 8 when the state legislature re-convenes.

Quote of the day…

It’s too expensive and out of the way to get everyone to Tallahassee, so we are organizing where we live. And if we are loud enough, the people in power in Tallahassee will hear us.

Stephanie Porta, Director of Organize Now, on plans for statewide rally against Governor’s budget scheduled for March 8.
