WILL OVERWHELMING HISPANIC SUPPORT FOR OBAMA GO SOUTH IN THE 2012 ELECTION?

(Black Agenda Report)

Bruce Dixon thinks this is possible as a response to the increase in deportations that has affected virtually every Hispanic immigrant family in America. When the Hispanic Caucus urged Congress to discontinue the federal “Secure Communities” program that enables local police to be agents of immigration enforcement, Obama “worked the phones” against the Caucus request. With white support for Obama declining and black support “softer,” Dixon sees the possible mass defection of Hispanics as severely threatening his re-election. That may be the political reality behind the soothing syrup of the recent “El Paso speech” of the President.

PROTECTING CIVILIANS IN LIBYA, TNC-STYLE.

(World Socialist)

Death squads operating to assassinate former loyalists of President Gadhafi are demonstrating how the rebel organization, the Transitional National Council, protects citizens from the “violence” of Gadhafi. The multi-national forces that are supporting the TNC by their military operations are the enablers of this twisted version of a “humanitarian” intervention.

IS THE I.R.S. TO BECOME AN INSTRUMENT OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM?

(New York Times)

Even as the Supreme Court has nullified rules on how much corporations can contribute to political campaigns, the Internal Revenue Service may be moving to staunch the flow of such contributions by charging federal “gift taxes” on same. Letters are sent to likes of George Soros and the Koch brothers warning them that their contributions to politically active groups may be deemed as subject to these taxes.

“ECO-TERRORIST” PROSECUTIONS IN THE U.S. ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN A NEW BOOK.

(Mother Jones)

Journalist Will Potter cites his own earlier threats from the FBI of being prosecuted for “domestic terrorism” if he failed to reveal the names of fellow animal rights demonstrators in Chicago area as the framework of a new book with the apt title: “Green is the New Red.” As FBI and other enforcement agencies in the 1950s treated communists as grave threats to American security, the modern counterparts of these agencies have discovered new “dangers” to be suppressed. What better targets of persecution than “tree huggers” and “owl lovers?”

NATIONAL EDUCATION STUDY SUGGESTS FLORIDA MIGHT WANT TO GO EASY ON IMPLEMENTING VOTER-MANDATED “CLASS SIZE REDUCTION” IN THE SCHOOLS.

(Palm Beach Post)

Brookings Institute study examines the “cost effectiveness” of such reductions in improving the academic performance of students. The study suggests that class size reduction has the desired effect ONLY if applied at the lower grade levels and if it involves a significantly large reduction in the number of students. Across-the-board application at all grade levels and/or minimum size reductions may be throwing such money that school districts don’t have after some remedies that aren’t effective.

Quote of the day…

After 9/11, we have a lot more authority now to get things done and get down to business. We can make your life very difficult for you. You work at newspapers? I can make it so you never work at a newspaper again.

“Chris,” an FBI agent in demanding that Will Potter, reporter for Chicago Tribune. furnish him the names of fellow animal rights demonstrators.

  1. The federal government is owned by several big U.S. corporations, President of the United States, Congressmen and Senators want to be reelected; U.S. Multi million dollar companies can get them reelected with their money. U.S. multi million dollar companies want undocumented nonunion Mexican labor.

  2. Obama doesn’t need to gain the support of Latino and Asian voters. He can rely on the Republican candidate to alienate them.
