BYD electric car, China
CHINESE INVESTORS PUTTING A LOT OF “STOCK” IN THE COUNTRY’S GREEN-ENERGY CAR INDUSTRY.
BYD, which makes an electric car, puts itself up for stock market sales and the market responds by large increase in price, despite the company’s recent poor earnings report. Analysts suggests that BYD is a surrogate for the interest of investors in supporting the overall green energy industry.

DISASTER SOCIAL ENGINEERING: WILL IT TAKE A CATASTROPHE LIKE THE ONE IN LIBBY MONTANA TO USHER IN MEDICARE FOR ALL AMERICANS?
Montana Senator Max Baucus, a principal architect of the “health care reform” bill which leaves so many Americans without any or with inadequate health care coverage, said during debate on the question that single payer or Medicare for All was “off the table” for consideration. Ironically, the mine contamination disaster that hit Libby resulted in Baucus “engineering” a contradictory arrangement that made all residents of the stricken community eligible for Medicare-style extended coverage. With the United States moving toward being a disaster area in economic conditions, will this motivate new social arrangements not in the “austerity” mode but in the mode of taking care of the emergency needs of the American people?

IS VAN JONES “REBUILDING THE DREAM”—OR PERPETUATING THE NIGHTMARE OF A PLUTOCRATIC SOCIETY?
Bruce Dixon puts the new “movement” to demand “progressive” action of the Obama administration under a microscope and finds the new movement of this title more “brand” than substance. Dixon sees a connection—all too close—between it and that of its ally, MoveOn.org, which has been in effect a campaign tool of the Obama administration with its highly selective criticism of the Republican brand and its bland acceptance of the Democratic plan of the same agenda of corporate control of America. The fact that the “progressive” Jones received so much heat from conservatives while he was the “green czar” for Obama made him a convenient tool of an agenda to prop up Obama support, despite his regressive actions, by “progressive” people and organizations.

WARNING: THE STAPH INFECTIONS IN THIS HOSPITAL COULD KILL YOU.
Missouri joins Washington as two states in which doctors who certify deaths are required to include, if relevant, a staph infection as a “contributing” cause of a death. Hospitals have been reluctant to have such determinations recorded in medical records, perhaps out of “liability” fears from actions of the survivors of the deceased

Quote of the day…
Mr. Speaker, I rise to oppose this legislation, which masquerades as a limitation of funds for the president’s war on Libya but is in fact an authorization for that very war. According to H.R. 2278, the U.S. military cannot be involved in NATO’s actions in Libya, with four important exceptions. If this passes, for the first time the president would be authorized to use U.S. Armed Forces to engage in search and rescue; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; aerial refueling; and operational planning against Libya. Currently, absent an authorization or declaration of war, these activities are illegal. So instead of ending the war against Libya, this bill would legalize nearly everything the president is currently doing there.
Rep. Ron Paul (R. Texas) on a House resolution on military operations in Libya, which failed to pass despite its support by such “anti-war” members of Congress as Woolsey and Kucinich.

China is making a mockery out of the United States in developing green jobs and green energy. This is how our status as superpower will end, because we are addicted to fossil fuels with no conviction to move beyond them thanks to Big Oil lobbyists and small minded ideologues.
If government subsidies trouble you, how much does it cost to give drilling subsidies to Big Oil or to maintain our military to keep the tankers moving between us and Saudia Arabia? If the true costs of oil and coal were ever felt at the pump or the electric bill, green alternatives would look much better.
Green is coming. It’s high-tech. We can get onboard and keep the jobs and profits at home or we can dither and moan and end up buying what we need from China.
Shouldn’t the goofs on the Right be going crazy that China — the commies! — is blowing past the good ‘ol United States in a major technology of the future? It’s like if China invented the television in the first half of the 20th-century but conservative wingnuts here banned it and forced everyone to listen to radios for decades longer. Idiots!!!!
