Focusing on a “job fair” in Detroit in which thousands of mostly-black job seekers turned out for a job fair sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus, an article on World Socialist Web notes that not even a single job interview resulted from the “fair.” This is emblematic of the nationwide “pittance” of CBC’s much-touted “job initiative.” The writer sees the project as a “fraudulent” effort to try to channel popular economic discontent into renewed support for President Obama and the Democratic Party. The nationwide aim of the project to is create 11,000 jobs in a country in which 25 million are unemployed and 36% of children live in jobless families.

With the Palestinian Authority preparing to submit its membership application on September 20, members of Congress are pulling out the stops to prevent other countries from supporting this application. Two members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Democrat Robert Menendez and Republican Marco Rubio, write letters to the Presidents of Panama, Colombia and Costa Rica urging them to vote against the PA. Since “free trade agreements” of the U.S. and Panama and Colombia are pending in Congress, these efforts are expected to produce foreign policy pressure on two countries whose leaders are hopeful for passage of these agreements.

Military Religious Freedom Foundation is on a year-long investigation of the myriad of ways found to promote Christianity both at the level of DOD policy and at individual military bases throughout the world. The MRFF has plenty to report, in an article which features public-funded “concerts” in contracts with promoters of shows with Christian themes which, in many cases, soldiers are required to attend as an indication of their “spiritual fitness.” If there is a separation of church and state in the U.S. military, there is but a tiny gap of such separation.

remember when walmart used to advertise that all their stuff was american made? jobs & manufacturing will go wherever they can squeeze a few more bucks out of the process, i get that. what i’ve never been able to understand is why the american taxpayer subsidized the moves.
outsourcing our infrastructure makes no sense either. neither does borrowing money from the chinese to pay for weapons systems to what, defend ourselves from the chinese?

The Congressional Black Caucus holds a job fair in Detroit, a city which embodies living proof of the results of years of Democrat policies and powerful labor unions and the glorious leadership of Kwame Kilpatrick. Thousands of people show up and don’t get jobs. How much you want to bet that every doggone one of them were solicited to register to vote by Democrat activists while they waited in those lines?
Great. Thousands of new Democrat voters, and how much you want to bet that 90% of them will obediently vote Democrat? They’ll vote for the re-election of that disciple of Kwame Kilpatrick policies, President OCarter, whose lack of understanding of basic economic principles helps keep them in that unemployment line.

I am so tired of the administration’s stance that it will only pursue policies which have a chance, if only in theory, of bipartisan support. I am a supporter, but talk about political cowardice! Be bold Dammit! Shove an agenda that is really good for America down the Republicans throats and watch that Presidential job approval rating rise.
There are no jobs ideas in existence that will make up for job losses from $4 trillion bucks in cuts.
