OPERATION ODYSSEY DAWN: CURRENT GIBBERISH NAME FOR U.S. PART IN RE-COLONIZATION OF ARAB MIDDLE EAST.

(World Socialist)

Bill van Auken, quoting at length from neo-con guru Phillip Zelikow, describes the U.S. foreign policy motives behind the country’s involvement in the “humanitarian intervention” that has destroyed much of Libya. Zelikow’s statements actually belittle the humanitarian definition of the operation in favor of a more realpolitik definition that goes to the “full spectrum dominance” policy traced back to the G.W. Bush administration. The controlling principle of this dominance-seeking aim is to isolate any resistance by those like Gaddafi, and to use favored Arab nations like Egypt and Saudi Arabia to divide the Arab world, make them enforcers of U.S. control and remove any “state” interference with corporate exploitation of the natural resources of the region.

THOSE JOURNALISTS “TRAPPED” IN HOTEL RIXOS TRIPOLI: WHO IS THREATENING WHOM?

(Global Research)

As mainstream media retail the story of journalists held against their wills by a last-ditch Gadaffi stand in Tripoli., at least one of these, a young man from Ottawa, Canada named Mahdi Mazemroaya, went to Tripoli to report “truthfully” on the NATO invasion of that city (disguised as a “rebel”) one. As the trapped journalists are “freed” by NATO intervention, Mahdi and and another “truth-teller,” French journalist Thierry Meyssan, find their lives threatened by the rebels and some of the “journalists” at the hotel who were providing dispatches more consistent with what NATO wanted the world to believe was happening in Libya.

“NOT AN INCH OF DAYLIGHT” BETWEEN ARRESTED PROTESTERS OF TAR SANDS PIPELINE AND LEADING U.S. ENVIRONMENTALIST GROUPS.

(Huffington Post)

As climate change activists like Bill McKibben are arrested for protesting at the White House to demand that the President stop the building of Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta’s oil tar sands to oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico, leaders of U.S. groups like the Sierra Club pen a letter in support of the demands of the protesters. In their letter, they let off the nuclear bomb of threatening to withhold in 2012 the enthusiastic support they gave to Obama’s election in 2008.

OH DEAR, OH DEAR, WHAT WILL THE HARTFORD FINANCIAL GROUP DO IF HURRICANE IRENE HITS CONNECTICUT?

(Hartford Courant)

“Catastrophe modeling” indicates that the state may suffer $1 billion damages if the hurricane sweeping up the East Coat hits the state. The HFG is one of numerous property insurers which worries about the effects on their profits of a hurricane hit perhaps Sunday night. Actually there may be “good news” with CT along with bad news for RI as hurricane tracking now suggests the storm may veer eastward for a landfall in that state. The 20% chance of a CT hit will probably not prevent HFG and other insurers from levying huge increases in property insurance rates, as the mere threat of a catastrophe is likely to do.

“HOW CAN YOU SOLVE THOSE PROBLEMS WITHOUT MONEY?”

(Florida Capital News)

Audubon of Florida director raises that question after Governor Rick Scott praises state water management districts for submitting budget requests for what amounts to a 40% reduction in level of their funding. Everglades Foundation head finds the cuts are acceptable, since they do not seem to slash funding for Everglades restoration.

Quote of the day…

Who are these people who suddenly erupted in joy on US and European television screens? After the smiles to the cameras and the Kalashnikovs shooting the skies, get ready for some major fratricidal fireworks.

Ethnic and tribal trouble is bound to explode. Many of the Berbers from the Western mountains, who entered Tripoli from the south this past weekend, are hardcore Salafis. Same with the Muslim Brotherhood/Salafi nebula from Cyrenaica, which has been instructed by US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) boots on the ground. As much as these fundamentalists “used” the Europeans and the Americans to get close to power, they may become a nasty guerrilla force if they are marginalized by the new NATO masters.

Pepe Escobar, on likely aftermath of the victory of “rebels” in Libya.

  1. Who runs Libya now? Guessing it would have to be someone tied to big oil. Like how they put the US puppet, Hamid Karzai, from the American oil company Unocal to run Afghanistan, because he provided the oil exploration data that lead to the blood bath for oil.
History has shown in Iraq that he who drops the genocide bombs gets the oil!

  2. Love how they claim victory of the war and say they control the whole country but Qadaffi still has the 3 southern regions of Libya under control which is like 70% of the nation so the war gonna go on but Qadaffi more than likely might go old school and start using the brigands own tactics against them (without the obvious help of plato I mean Nato)
