Since the partition between Jewish-majority Israeli and the Palestinian West Bank, school education in east Jerusalem and other West Bank communities has had a basically “Palestinian curriculum.” Now, under the demands of right-wing elements in Israeli, that bastion of “Palestinian identity” is under assault as the Israeli based Jerusalem Education Administration is using the power of the purse, its funding of Palestinian schools, to require a Jewish curriculum in those schools.

The present state of Israel would not exist without massive US financial support. Basically, the US funded the WMD program of nuclear weapons, the settlements, and the recent wall. (“Mr. Netanyahu, tear down this wall”) If Israel was not the recipient of American largesse, it would be forced to actually learn how to get along with it’s neighbors. The Palestinians are not going away. And the US can’t afford to finance this outpost forever. So, Mr. Netanyahu – “Blessed are the peacemakers”.
