A day after talks begin between Iran and western powers aimed at forestalling any development of nuclear weapons by Iran, Israeli officials and press express “skepticism” that Iran will negotiate in good faith, and assert the necessity of keeping the option of a military action against Iran “on the table.” Iranians respond that you can’t negotiate under this kind of pressure.

New data compiled by U.S. Department of Education documents what “everybody knows,” that black and Hispanic children are far more likely than white ones to be targets of school disciplinary action and even to get into the pipeline of “school to prison” when school misdeeds are referred for legal prosecution—with some 70% of those in this pipeline of these two ethnicities. The report blames not actual student behavioral differences but negative “perception” of minority students, even by black school officials. While Education Secretary Arne Duncan calls the report an “eye-opener,” Glen Ford doubts that he will discontinue the Jim Crow-feeding policy of assault on public schools in ghetto areas.
