Western governments, abetted by an uncritical mainstream media, are preparing the ground for an all-out war with Syria by perpetuating the myth of a “humanitarian crisis” in which the Syrian government brutally suppresses a popular uprising seeking only their freedom from a horrible dictatorship. Stratfor, WikiLeaks and other sources of information are unable to cover the increasingly transparent fact that foreign governments with an interest in “taking down” Syria are the driving forces behind the insurrection and that, as in Libya, fierce military intervention is being prepared to “save” the Syrians from government brutality.

Leaving D.C, after an inconclusive parlay with President Obama to secure U.S. military action against Iran and/or support such action by Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leaves behind the “novella,” composed long after the events supposedly being depicted, of an incident from the “Babylonian captivity” in which some of the Jewish elite were carried off to Babylon as part of a plot to wipe the kingdom of Judah “off the map.” Netanyahu’s reason for the gift is pretty transparent: to use an ancient piece of fiction about Persia’s intent to destroy Judea to promote a very contemporary piece of fiction that Iran’s plans to develop nuclear weaponry are an “existential threat” to an already-nuclear armed Israel.

One of the e-mails just obtained by Associated Press in Freedom of Information action to obtain 2000 White House documents related to the 2010 firing of Shirley Sherrod from the Department of Agriculture after a supposedly “racist” video surfaced on a conservative website. USDA head Tom Vilsack later apologized and did a “Shirley come back” routine which Sherrod declined. The “please please” e-mail went to USDA from a White House liaison person, part of an intense presidential interest in the case that officials “never let on” was happening.

Not a joke: 17 year old boy walks into Cupid’s Corner (“everything for your erotic desires”), brandishes a weapon (which turns out to be a bb gun) and demands the store’s cash. Store employee tells boy there isn’t enough cash in the store to justify his crime, but says there may be a job opening and gives him an application form which he fills out. Boy and employee have pleasant chat, they have a smoke together and he leaves. Employee calls police with information about boy that he put on the application and they arrest him. End of non-joke.
