This term—used to describe “terrorist plots” broken up by the F.B.I. when the plotters had nothing but “aspirations” to commit terrorists acts—seems to apply as well to the truth about the terrorist “threat” posed by Osama bin Laden who was pulled from a Pakistani compound and killed a year ago. Though this act has been enshired as a signature “achievement” of the Obama administration (Joseph Biden’s Osama dies-General Motors lives) it was actually the capture of a person who had been thoroughly marginalized and consigned to a harmless location by the al Qaeda leadership itself. As well the implicit claim that the U.S. learned of bin Laden’s whereabouts through “enhanced interrogation” of Quantanamo detainees was a false representation used to justify a continued policy of detainee torture. Gareth Porter reports these facts arising from recently-released documents obtained from the files of the Pakistani intelligence agency. They are of course being ignored by mainstream media and by U.S. government officials.

HOW FAST CAN OSHA MOVE ON REGULATIONS INVOLVING WORKER SAFETY?

It seems to depend on whether the regulation will lead to improved or deteroriated worker safety. A regulation increasing safety measures for workers exposed to cancer causing silica dust is mired in endess months of bureaucratic red tape. Meantime another rule increasing the number of chickens that passes down a slaughter line in a given period of time is given special treatment: it’s a matter of “productivity” of workers—the increase of which contributes to the bottom lines of poultry producers.

A Salt Lake City pharmacist is arrested for filling an oxycodon prescription with M&M candies at a cost of $100. When she discovered the deception and complained the pharmacist demanded that she become a drug dealer herself and return $3000 to him from her sales-otherwise he would turn her in as a drug abuser. The pharmacist defends his actions by claiming that he was just “messing” with the woman to try to get her to seek treatment as a drug addict.

Each time I strongly criticize Barack Obama a few of my readers ask to unsubscribe. I’m really sorry to lose them but it’s important that those on the left rid themselves of their attachment to the Democratic Party. I’m not certain how best to institute revolutionary change in the United States, but I do know that it will not happen through the Democratic Party, and the sooner those on the left cut their umbilical cord to the Democrats, the sooner we can start to get more serious about this thing called revolution.
