“YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS IF YOU HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT IN ADVANCE.”

A Canadian professor warns northern countries that they must begin now to make “advance” plans about how to deal with species-threatening effects of climate change on Arctic polar bears. If they wait for the most drastic conditions to develop, they may find themselves reduced to such drastic remedies as euthanizing the animals rather than allowing them to starve.

HYPOCRISY DISGUISED AS FREE ENTERPRISE.

Paul Buchheit so describes the rise of a “corpocrisy” in which big companies profit from technological research and development at public expense to double their profits, sequester them from taxation, and lay off workers and keep retained workers at stagnant wages, all in the name of a hypocritical claim to be “creating jobs” even as they destroy them.

SHOULD A MAN WHO THREATENED A PASTOR BECAUSE HE DIDN’T LIKE THE SIZE OF A PIECE OF COMMUNION BREAD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A CONCEALED GUN PERMIT?

This question is raised in Sarasota, Florida as a mentally unstable man has had numerous disputes over minor disagreements and has sometimes punctuated his invective with warnings he is carrying a concealed weapon. Maybe he is faking, but the process by which such people are restricted in their ability to carry guns is slipshod at best, and there are many opportunities for the mentally unfit to get and retain concealed carry permits.

U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon, who decries government secrecy about extra-judicial assassination decisions, even as she throws out a suit demanding greater transparency in same.
